Before your Market Harborough delivery arrives

Tiles and slates arrive palletised and are usually crane-offloaded where access allows; battens and membrane rolls travel with them. Market Harborough is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.
• If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
• With roughly 7h 39m of daylight in Market Harborough around the shortest day, morning deliveries leave more working light for the job.

Roofing Materials: choosing well

Check the minimum pitch

Every tile and slate has a minimum rafter pitch set by the manufacturer. A shallow extension roof may rule some tiles out.

Fixing requirements

BS 5534 sets out how tiles must be fixed against wind uplift, which in most cases means every tile is mechanically fixed. Ask for the fixing specification with your tiles.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Working out quantities for your Market Harborough job

A 30 m² roof slope needs roughly 300 large-format interlocking tiles, or about 1,800 small plain tiles, before ridge, hip and verge pieces. The exact count comes from the tile's gauge, so send us the roof measurements and pitch and we will work it out with the battens and membrane.

Ordering roofing materials for Market Harborough: FAQs

Do I need a breathable membrane?

Most new pitched roofs use a breathable (vapour-permeable) underlay, which helps control condensation in the roof space. Some designs use a non-breathable underlay with ventilation instead.

What battens should I use?

Roofing battens graded for roofing work, of the size the tile maker and BS 5534 call for, normally treated.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Market Harborough?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

Can I add other materials to my Market Harborough delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from roofing materials to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.
