Roofing Materials for London, delivered to site

Roofing materials are the tiles or slates, battens, underlay membranes and fixings that make up a pitched roof covering, plus the flat-roof materials for smaller roofs.

SK Trade prices roofing materials delivered to London and the rest of Greater London, so the cost and the delivery date are agreed before anything is loaded.

Delivery to London: what helps

Tiles and slates arrive palletised and are usually crane-offloaded where access allows; battens and membrane rolls travel with them. London is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.
  • Give us the full postcode for the drop point; deliveries around EC1 are priced to the exact address.
  • Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.

Choosing roofing materials

Matching an existing roof

The profile, size and colour all matter. A photo of the tile and a measurement of its exposed face help us find the closest current product.

Check the minimum pitch

Every tile and slate has a minimum rafter pitch set by the manufacturer. A shallow extension roof may rule some tiles out.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Sizing your order

A 30 m² roof slope needs roughly 300 large-format interlocking tiles, or about 1,800 small plain tiles, before ridge, hip and verge pieces. The exact count comes from the tile's gauge, so send us the roof measurements and pitch and we will work it out with the battens and membrane.

Questions about roofing materials delivery in London

Do you deliver roofing materials to trades and homeowners in London?

Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.

Can you deliver roofing materials to a site with restricted access in London?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.

How many roof tiles do I need?

It depends on the tile and its gauge (the spacing of the battens). Manufacturers quote tiles per square metre for each product; send us the roof area and the tile and we will work it out with ridge, hip and verge pieces.

Can you match old clay tiles?

We can look for close current matches. Reclaimed tiles are another route for very old roofs; ask and we will tell you what we can source.
