Before your Prestwick delivery arrives

Boards are heavy and fragile at the edges; they travel flat and are best stored flat and dry. Prestwick is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Keep cement, plaster and boards dry: have a tarpaulin or a garage space ready before they arrive.

Which thickness?

12.5 mm is the everyday choice for walls and ceilings on 400 or 600 mm centres; 9.5 mm suits ceilings at 400 mm centres. Fire and acoustic designs may call for 15 mm or two layers.

Tapered or square edge?

Tapered edge boards are for taping and jointing without a skim; square edge boards are normally skimmed.

In Scotland most building work needs a building warrant from the local authority, assessed against the Building Standards Technical Handbooks.
