Planning the drop in Hampshire

Boards are heavy and fragile at the edges; they travel flat and are best stored flat and dry. Our standard mainland delivery area covers Hampshire.

  • Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.
  • Weight limits on bridges or private roads near the site matter for larger lorries, so mention any you know of.
  • On busy streets in Hampshire, a parking suspension or a quiet time slot can make offloading safer, so tell us about local restrictions you know of.

Getting the right plasterboard

Tapered or square edge?

Tapered edge boards are for taping and jointing without a skim; square edge boards are normally skimmed.

Which thickness?

12.5 mm is the everyday choice for walls and ceilings on 400 or 600 mm centres; 9.5 mm suits ceilings at 400 mm centres. Fire and acoustic designs may call for 15 mm or two layers.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Questions about plasterboard delivery in Hampshire

Can you deliver plasterboard to a site with restricted access in Hampshire?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Hampshire?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

How many screws per board?

Around 30 to 40 drywall screws for a 2400 × 1200 board on a wall, with screws at about 300 mm centres.

How many plasterboards do I need?

Divide the wall or ceiling area by 2.88 m² (one 2400 × 1200 sheet) and add about 10 percent for cutting. Our plasterboard calculator also gives the screws.
