Choosing plasterboard

Which board type?

Use moisture-resistant board in wet rooms, fire board where a fire rating is required, and acoustic board for quieter rooms. Building regulations or your design set the requirement.

Tapered or square edge?

Tapered edge boards are for taping and jointing without a skim; square edge boards are normally skimmed.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Planning the drop in Coalville

Boards are heavy and fragile at the edges; they travel flat and are best stored flat and dry. Coalville is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.
• Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.
• On busy streets in Coalville, a parking suspension or a quiet time slot can make offloading safer, so tell us about local restrictions you know of.
