Before you order plasterboard

Tapered or square edge?

Tapered edge boards are for taping and jointing without a skim; square edge boards are normally skimmed.

Which board type?

Use moisture-resistant board in wet rooms, fire board where a fire rating is required, and acoustic board for quieter rooms. Building regulations or your design set the requirement.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Getting plasterboard onto your Brixton site

Boards are heavy and fragile at the edges; they travel flat and are best stored flat and dry. Brixton is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• In summer Brixton gets around 16h 38m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.
• Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.
• Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.

12.5 mm is the standard choice for walls on studs at 400 or 600 mm centres.

Can plasterboard be stored outside?

No. Keep boards flat, off the ground and dry, ideally inside the building.

Can I add other materials to my Brixton delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from plasterboard to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Brixton?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.
