Working out quantities for your Windsor job

A 4.2 × 3.6 m room with one door has about 14.8 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 16.3 m, or 4 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.

Picking the right product

Nominal versus finished size

Planing takes material off, so a timber sold as 'nominal' 2 × 4 finishes smaller. Always check finished sizes when you need an exact fit.

Softwood or MDF trim?

MDF skirting and architrave is very straight and paints well; softwood takes knocks better and can be stained.

Delivering planed timber in Windsor

Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Windsor is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Weight limits on bridges or private roads near the site matter for larger lorries, so mention any you know of.
• Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.
• If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.

Questions about planed timber delivery in Windsor

Do you sell MDF skirting?

Yes, primed MDF skirting and architrave in common profiles, alongside softwood.

How should I store planed timber?

Flat, off the ground and inside if possible, so it does not take on moisture and move before fitting.

Can I add other materials to my Windsor delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from planed timber to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.

Can you deliver planed timber to a site with restricted access in Windsor?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.
