Sizing your order

A 3.8 × 4.6 m room with one door has about 16 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 17.6 m, or 5 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.

Before your Swindon delivery arrives

Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Swindon is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.
• Keep cement, plaster and boards dry: have a tarpaulin or a garage space ready before they arrive.
• With roughly 7h 49m of daylight in Swindon around the shortest day, morning deliveries leave more working light for the job.

Things to check before you order

Nominal versus finished size

Planing takes material off, so a timber sold as 'nominal' 2 × 4 finishes smaller. Always check finished sizes when you need an exact fit.

Softwood or MDF trim?

MDF skirting and architrave is very straight and paints well; softwood takes knocks better and can be stained.

Common questions from Swindon

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Swindon?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

Can you deliver planed timber to a site with restricted access in Swindon?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.

Do you sell MDF skirting?

Yes, primed MDF skirting and architrave in common profiles, alongside softwood.

Can you match an old skirting profile?

We can look for the closest current profile. Exact matches for old or bespoke profiles may need machining to order.
