Before you order planed timber

Matching old profiles

Bring an offcut or a clear profile photo with measurements and we will look for the closest current profile.

Softwood or MDF trim?

MDF skirting and architrave is very straight and paints well; softwood takes knocks better and can be stained.

A quick quantity check

A 3.4 × 4 m room with one door has about 14 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 15.4 m, or 4 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.

Getting planed timber onto your Sevenoaks site

Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Sevenoaks is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Give us the full postcode for the drop point; deliveries around TN13 are priced to the exact address.
• If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
• Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.

Ordering planed timber for Sevenoaks: FAQs

How soon can planed timber be delivered in Sevenoaks?

We confirm the delivery date when we price your order, before you commit. It depends on the product, the quantity and whether it is a stock line or made to order.

What does PAR mean?

Planed all round: the timber has been machined smooth on all four faces.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Sevenoaks?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

How should I store planed timber?

Flat, off the ground and inside if possible, so it does not take on moisture and move before fitting.
