Planning the drop in Rutherglen

Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Rutherglen is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Clear a level area for pallets, ideally on boards, so materials stay out of standing water.
• Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.
• If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.

Quantities: a worked example

A 4.2 × 4.6 m room with one door has about 16.8 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 18.5 m, or 5 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.

Choosing planed timber

Nominal versus finished size

Planing takes material off, so a timber sold as 'nominal' 2 × 4 finishes smaller. Always check finished sizes when you need an exact fit.

Softwood or MDF trim?

MDF skirting and architrave is very straight and paints well; softwood takes knocks better and can be stained.

Ordering planed timber for Rutherglen: FAQs

Can I add other materials to my Rutherglen delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from planed timber to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.

What does PAR mean?

Planed all round: the timber has been machined smooth on all four faces.

How soon can planed timber be delivered in Rutherglen?

We confirm the delivery date when we price your order, before you commit. It depends on the product, the quantity and whether it is a stock line or made to order.

Can you match an old skirting profile?

We can look for the closest current profile. Exact matches for old or bespoke profiles may need machining to order.
