Working out quantities for your Moray job
A 3.8 × 4 m room with one door has about 14.8 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 16.3 m, or 4 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.
Delivering planed timber in Moray
Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Across most of Moray, deliveries are quoted individually because of the distance and access.
- Weight limits on bridges or private roads near the site matter for larger lorries, so mention any you know of.
- On busy streets in Moray, a parking suspension or a quiet time slot can make offloading safer, so tell us about local restrictions you know of.
- If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.
Planed Timber & Mouldings: choosing well
Softwood or MDF trim?
MDF skirting and architrave is very straight and paints well; softwood takes knocks better and can be stained.
Nominal versus finished size
Planing takes material off, so a timber sold as 'nominal' 2 × 4 finishes smaller. Always check finished sizes when you need an exact fit.
Common questions from Moray
Do you deliver planed timber to trades and homeowners in Moray?
Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.
Do you sell MDF skirting?
Yes, primed MDF skirting and architrave in common profiles, alongside softwood.
How soon can planed timber be delivered in Moray?
We confirm the delivery date when we price your order, before you commit. It depends on the product, the quantity and whether it is a stock line or made to order.
Can you match an old skirting profile?
We can look for the closest current profile. Exact matches for old or bespoke profiles may need machining to order.
