Concrete & Aircrete Blocks delivery in Moray

Concrete blocks are large masonry units, normally 440 × 215 mm on face, that lay at about 10 blocks per square metre; they come as dense aggregate, lightweight aggregate or aircrete (aerated) blocks.

Across Moray, from Elgin to Lossiemouth, we supply concrete blocks delivered to site with the price and date confirmed in writing.

Estimating your concrete blocks

A single-skin block wall in Moray 7 m long and 2.4 m high is 16.8 m². At 10 blocks per square metre plus 5% you need 177 blocks, with about 0.24 tonnes of building sand and 3 bags of cement for the mortar at 1:4. Try the block calculator

Before your Moray delivery arrives

Blocks are banded on pallets and usually crane-offloaded where the vehicle and access allow; tell us the weight limit of any drive or the ground where pallets will sit. Across most of Moray, deliveries are quoted individually because of the distance and access.

  • Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.
  • If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
  • If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.

Before you order concrete blocks

Handling heavy blocks

Health and safety guidance discourages laying very heavy blocks by hand for long periods. Lighter blocks or planning the lift can make a big difference on site.

What strength do I need?

Most houses use 3.6 N/mm² or 7.3 N/mm² blocks. Your structural design, your building standards surveyor or the block manufacturer's guidance sets the grade; tell us what is specified and we will match it.

In Scotland most building work needs a building warrant from the local authority, assessed against the Building Standards Technical Handbooks.

Your questions answered

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Moray?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

How heavy is a concrete block?

It depends on the type and thickness. A 100 mm dense block is roughly 18 to 20 kg, a lightweight block noticeably less, and an aircrete block much less again.

Are aircrete blocks strong enough for an extension?

Many aircrete blocks are designed for loadbearing walls, but grades differ. Check the strength your design calls for and the manufacturer's guidance on use below DPC.

Can you deliver concrete blocks to a site with restricted access in Moray?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.
