Estimating your planed timber

A 3.8 × 4.6 m room with one door has about 16 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 17.6 m, or 5 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.

Getting the right planed timber

Matching old profiles

Bring an offcut or a clear profile photo with measurements and we will look for the closest current profile.

Nominal versus finished size

Planing takes material off, so a timber sold as 'nominal' 2 × 4 finishes smaller. Always check finished sizes when you need an exact fit.

How delivery works in Litherland

Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Litherland is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
• On busy streets in Litherland, a parking suspension or a quiet time slot can make offloading safer, so tell us about local restrictions you know of.
• If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.

Your questions answered

Can you deliver planed timber to a site with restricted access in Litherland?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.

Can I add other materials to my Litherland delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from planed timber to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.

What does PAR mean?

Planed all round: the timber has been machined smooth on all four faces.

Do you sell MDF skirting?

Yes, primed MDF skirting and architrave in common profiles, alongside softwood.
