Before your Crieff delivery arrives

Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Crieff is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Give us the full postcode for the drop point; deliveries around PH7 are priced to the exact address.
• In summer Crieff gets around 17h 43m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.
• Clear a level area for pallets, ideally on boards, so materials stay out of standing water.

Planed Timber & Mouldings: choosing well

Nominal versus finished size

Planing takes material off, so a timber sold as 'nominal' 2 × 4 finishes smaller. Always check finished sizes when you need an exact fit.

Softwood or MDF trim?

MDF skirting and architrave is very straight and paints well; softwood takes knocks better and can be stained.

Estimating your planed timber

A 3 × 4.6 m room with one door has about 14.4 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 15.8 m, or 4 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.

Common questions from Crieff

Do you deliver planed timber to Crieff?

Yes. We deliver across Crieff, including PH7. Crieff is inside our standard mainland delivery area. Send your list or call 0800 088 6341 and we will price it delivered to your postcode.

Why is my 2 × 4 smaller than 2 × 4 inches?

Timber is often named by its sawn size before planing. Once planed, it finishes smaller, so a nominal 2 × 4 is roughly 44 × 94 mm or less.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Crieff?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

What does PAR mean?

Planed all round: the timber has been machined smooth on all four faces.
