Working out quantities for your Lanarkshire job

Delivery to Lanarkshire: what helps

Boards are light but bulky; they travel in wrapped packs and should be stored flat and dry. Our standard mainland delivery area covers Lanarkshire.

  • Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.
  • Weight limits on bridges or private roads near the site matter for larger lorries, so mention any you know of.
  • If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.

Getting the right PIR insulation boards

Thickness for the U-value

The thickness you need depends on the U-value the building regulations require and the rest of the build-up. Manufacturers publish U-value tables; your designer or the council's building standards service will confirm.

Fire considerations

PIR is a combustible product. Building regulations restrict combustible materials in some situations, such as external walls of taller buildings; check what applies.

In Scotland most building work needs a building warrant from the local authority, assessed against the Building Standards Technical Handbooks.

Your questions answered

How thick should PIR insulation be?

It depends on where it goes and the U-value required. Pitched roofs often need 100 mm or more between and under rafters; floors and walls vary. Use the maker's U-value tables or ask your designer.

Do you deliver PIR insulation boards to Lanarkshire?

Yes. We deliver across Lanarkshire, including G, ML. Our standard mainland delivery area covers Lanarkshire. Send your list or call 0800 088 6341 and we will price it delivered to your postcode.

Is PIR better than mineral wool?

PIR insulates more per millimetre, so it suits tight spaces. Mineral wool is non-combustible, cheaper per square metre and better for sound.

Can I add other materials to my Lanarkshire delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from PIR insulation boards to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.
