Picking the right product

Sealing joints

Tape the joints with foil tape so the foil layer works as a continuous vapour control layer where the design relies on it.

Thickness for the U-value

The thickness you need depends on the U-value the building regulations require and the rest of the build-up. Manufacturers publish U-value tables; your designer or building control will confirm.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

How much will you need?

Insulating 36 m² of rafters, floor or wall takes 14 boards of 2400 × 1200 mm including offcuts. The thickness depends on the U-value you need, so check it before you order. Try the insulation calculator

Delivering PIR insulation boards in Dewsbury

Boards are light but bulky; they travel in wrapped packs and should be stored flat and dry. Dewsbury is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Weight limits on bridges or private roads near the site matter for larger lorries, so mention any you know of.
• Keep cement, plaster and boards dry: have a tarpaulin or a garage space ready before they arrive.
• On busy streets in Dewsbury, a parking suspension or a quiet time slot can make offloading safer, so tell us about local restrictions you know of.

Your questions answered

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Dewsbury?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

Is PIR better than mineral wool?

PIR insulates more per millimetre, so it suits tight spaces. Mineral wool is non-combustible, cheaper per square metre and better for sound.

What is the foil for?

The foil facing reflects heat, protects the foam and, when joints are taped, can act as a vapour control layer.

How soon can PIR insulation boards be delivered in Dewsbury?

We confirm the delivery date when we price your order, before you commit. It depends on the product, the quantity and whether it is a stock line or made to order.
