OSB, MDF & Chipboard: choosing well

Which flooring?

P5 chipboard flooring is the standard moisture-resistant floor deck. 18 mm is common at 400 mm joist centres and 22 mm at 600 mm centres, but follow the maker's span table.

OSB or plywood?

OSB3 is usually cheaper and fine for most structural decking in humid conditions. Plywood is stiffer, takes fixings near edges better and performs better where it may get wet.

Before your Stanford-le-Hope delivery arrives

Sheets come in packs on the lorry bed, crane-lifted or hand-offloaded. Stanford-le-Hope is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.
• Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.
• In summer Stanford-le-Hope gets around 16h 39m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.
