Choosing MOT Type 1
How deep?
Patios and paths commonly use around 100 mm of compacted sub-base, and domestic driveways around 150 mm or more. Soft ground or heavier vehicles need more; your designer or installer will confirm.
Virgin or recycled?
Recycled Type 1 can be a good option where it meets the specification; ask what your project or local authority requires.
Before your Gosforth delivery arrives
Bulk bags are usually crane-offloaded where access allows; very large quantities can be priced as loose tipped loads where access allows. Gosforth is inside our standard mainland delivery area.
- On busy streets in Gosforth, a parking suspension or a quiet time slot can make offloading safer, so tell us about local restrictions you know of.
- If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
- Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.
MOT Type 1 Sub-base questions
