Getting the right MOT Type 1
Virgin or recycled?
Recycled Type 1 can be a good option where it meets the specification; ask what your project or local authority requires.
How deep?
Patios and paths commonly use around 100 mm of compacted sub-base, and domestic driveways around 150 mm or more. Soft ground or heavier vehicles need more; your designer or installer will confirm.
How delivery works in Cardiff
Bulk bags are usually crane-offloaded where access allows; very large quantities can be priced as loose tipped loads where access allows. Cardiff is inside our standard mainland delivery area.
- Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.
- If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.
- Keep cement, plaster and boards dry: have a tarpaulin or a garage space ready before they arrive.
Common questions from Cardiff
Can you tip it loose?
