Before you order mineral wool insulation
How much for a loft?
The common recommendation is 270 mm in total: usually 100 mm between the joists and 170 mm across them. Check the depth already there.
Keep it ventilated
When insulating a loft, keep eaves vents clear so the roof space stays ventilated.
In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.
Before your Blackpool delivery arrives
Rolls are compressed and wrapped; they are light but take up space, so tell us if storage is tight. Blackpool is inside our standard mainland delivery area.
- Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.
- With roughly 7h 24m of daylight in Blackpool around the shortest day, morning deliveries leave more working light for the job.
- Clear a level area for pallets, ideally on boards, so materials stay out of standing water.
Quantities: a worked example
A 9 × 8 m loft (72 m²) insulated from scratch to 270 mm needs about 9 rolls of 100 mm and 15 rolls of 170 mm, using typical roll coverage; coverage varies by brand. Try the insulation calculator
