Steel & Concrete Lintels delivered to Liverpool

A lintel is a beam that carries the masonry over a door or window opening; most UK houses use galvanised steel cavity lintels or prestressed concrete lintels.

SK Trade prices lintels delivered to Liverpool and the rest of Merseyside, so the cost and the delivery date are agreed before anything is loaded.

Delivery to Liverpool: what helps

Lintels are long, so tell us about tight access. Shorter lintels can travel with a mixed load; long steel lintels are handled by hand or crane. Liverpool is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • Give us the full postcode for the drop point; deliveries around L1 are priced to the exact address.
  • Deliveries are to the kerb, drive or within crane reach; ask if materials need to go further.
  • If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.

Sizing your order

For a 1,200 mm clear opening, add at least 150 mm of bearing at each end: the lintel needs to be at least 1,500 mm long. Then pick the type for the wall build-up and check the load in the manufacturer's table, or ask your engineer if the opening carries a floor or roof.

Before you order lintels

Do I need a cavity tray?

Over openings in cavity walls, water in the cavity has to be directed outwards. Many steel lintels need a separate cavity tray and stop ends; check the lintel maker's detail.

Steel or concrete?

Steel cavity lintels support both leaves and include insulation to limit cold bridging. Concrete lintels are simple and robust for single leaves and internal walls.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Ordering lintels for Liverpool: FAQs

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Liverpool?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

Do you deliver lintels to trades and homeowners in Liverpool?

Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.

Can lintels be delivered with my blocks?

Yes. We combine them on one lorry where the lengths and the route allow.

Do I need building control approval for a new lintel?

Making or widening an opening in a loadbearing wall is structural work, so in most cases yes. Building control or an engineer will confirm the lintel.
