Order lintels for delivery in Eastleigh

A lintel is a beam that carries the masonry over a door or window opening; most UK houses use galvanised steel cavity lintels or prestressed concrete lintels.

Trades and homeowners in Eastleigh can order lintels for delivery by sending a list, a drawing or just the sizes of the job.

Before your Eastleigh delivery arrives

Lintels are long, so tell us about tight access. Shorter lintels can travel with a mixed load; long steel lintels are handled by hand or crane. Eastleigh is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • Clear a level area for pallets, ideally on boards, so materials stay out of standing water.
  • Weight limits on bridges or private roads near the site matter for larger lorries, so mention any you know of.
  • Deliveries are to the kerb, drive or within crane reach; ask if materials need to go further.

Things to check before you order

Do I need a cavity tray?

Over openings in cavity walls, water in the cavity has to be directed outwards. Many steel lintels need a separate cavity tray and stop ends; check the lintel maker's detail.

Which lintel for my opening?

Measure the clear opening, add the end bearing each side, and note the wall type (cavity width, inner and outer leaf) and what sits above. Manufacturers publish load tables; for anything carrying a floor, roof or point load get an engineer or building control to confirm.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

A quick quantity check

For a 1,500 mm clear opening, add at least 150 mm of bearing at each end: the lintel needs to be at least 1,800 mm long. Then pick the type for the wall build-up and check the load in the manufacturer's table, or ask your engineer if the opening carries a floor or roof.

Steel & Concrete Lintels in Eastleigh: questions

Can lintels be delivered with my blocks?

Yes. We combine them on one lorry where the lengths and the route allow.

Do I need building control approval for a new lintel?

Making or widening an opening in a loadbearing wall is structural work, so in most cases yes. Building control or an engineer will confirm the lintel.

Can you deliver lintels to a site with restricted access in Eastleigh?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.

Can I add other materials to my Eastleigh delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from lintels to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.
