Steel & Concrete Lintels delivered to Christchurch
A lintel is a beam that carries the masonry over a door or window opening; most UK houses use galvanised steel cavity lintels or prestressed concrete lintels.
From BH23 to BH7, we price lintels delivered to Christchurch and confirm the drop point and date when you order.

Before your Christchurch delivery arrives
Lintels are long, so tell us about tight access. Shorter lintels can travel with a mixed load; long steel lintels are handled by hand or crane. Christchurch is inside our standard mainland delivery area.
- If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
- If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.
- Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.
Getting the right lintels
Which lintel for my opening?
Measure the clear opening, add the end bearing each side, and note the wall type (cavity width, inner and outer leaf) and what sits above. Manufacturers publish load tables; for anything carrying a floor, roof or point load get an engineer or building control to confirm.
Steel or concrete?
Steel cavity lintels support both leaves and include insulation to limit cold bridging. Concrete lintels are simple and robust for single leaves and internal walls.
In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.
A quick quantity check
For a 3,000 mm clear opening, add at least 150 mm of bearing at each end: the lintel needs to be at least 3,300 mm long. Then pick the type for the wall build-up and check the load in the manufacturer's table, or ask your engineer if the opening carries a floor or roof.
Steel & Concrete Lintels in Christchurch: questions
Can I add other materials to my Christchurch delivery?
Yes. Put everything on one list, from lintels to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.
Can you tell me which lintel to use?
We can suggest options from the manufacturers' load tables based on the opening, wall type and load you describe, but for anything structural the final choice should come from your designer or engineer, and be approved through building control.
What is a padstone for?
It spreads a concentrated load, such as the end of a beam, over a larger area of masonry so the blocks or bricks underneath are not crushed.
Can you deliver lintels to a site with restricted access in Christchurch?
Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.
