Damp Proofing & Membranes for Chatham, delivered to site

Damp proofing materials stop moisture rising or passing through a building: a damp-proof course (DPC) in the walls and a damp-proof membrane (DPM) under the floor.

From ME4 to ME7, we price damp proofing delivered to Chatham and confirm the drop point and date when you order.

Things to check before you order

Is radon protection needed?

Parts of the UK need radon protection in new buildings and extensions. UKHSA radon maps show the areas; building control will tell you what applies.

DPC width

Match the DPC width to the wall leaf so it runs the full width of the masonry.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Sizing your order

An extension in Chatham with 24 m of cavity wall needs DPC in both leaves: about 2 rolls in 30 m lengths once laps are allowed for. A 30 m² floor slab needs about 34.5 m² of DPM including laps, which is 1 roll of 4 × 25 m sheeting.

Planning the drop in Chatham

Rolls are light enough to travel with a mixed load and are handed off at the kerb. Chatham is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • Clear a level area for pallets, ideally on boards, so materials stay out of standing water.
  • Keep cement, plaster and boards dry: have a tarpaulin or a garage space ready before they arrive.
  • If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.

Questions about damp proofing delivery in Chatham

Can you deliver damp proofing to a site with restricted access in Chatham?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.

Do you deliver damp proofing to trades and homeowners in Chatham?

Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.

Do I need a radon barrier?

It depends on where you are. In radon-affected areas building control requires radon protection in new buildings and extensions.

How thick should a DPM be?

1200-gauge polythene, around 300 microns, is a common specification for floor slabs. Your design may call for something different.
