Bagged Concrete & Mortar Mixes: choosing well

Post mix quantities

Most makers say how many bags per post; it depends on the hole size.

Bagged or site-mixed?

Bagged mixes cost more per cubic metre but save time, waste and space. For anything bigger than a small pad, site-mixed or ready-mixed concrete is usually better value.

Estimating your bagged concrete and mortar

Setting 12 fence posts in Newry usually takes 12 to 24 bags of 20 kg post mix, depending on the hole size printed on the bag. For a base bigger than about half a cubic metre, all-in ballast and cement are usually better value. Compare with site-mixed concrete

Delivery to Newry: what helps

Bags come on a pallet or with a mixed load. Deliveries to Northern Ireland include a sea crossing, so we quote each order individually.

• Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.
• Deliveries are to the kerb, drive or within crane reach; ask if materials need to go further.
• If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.
