Bagged Concrete & Mortar Mixes: choosing well

Bagged or site-mixed?

Bagged mixes cost more per cubic metre but save time, waste and space. For anything bigger than a small pad, site-mixed or ready-mixed concrete is usually better value.

Post mix quantities

Most makers say how many bags per post; it depends on the hole size.

Before your Locharbriggs delivery arrives

Bags come on a pallet or with a mixed load. Locharbriggs is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.
• Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.
• Weight limits on bridges or private roads near the site matter for larger lorries, so mention any you know of.

A quick quantity check

Setting 20 fence posts in Locharbriggs usually takes 20 to 40 bags of 20 kg post mix, depending on the hole size printed on the bag. For a base bigger than about half a cubic metre, all-in ballast and cement are usually better value. Compare with site-mixed concrete

Bagged Concrete & Mortar Mixes in Locharbriggs: questions

Can I add other materials to my Locharbriggs delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from bagged concrete and mortar to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.

How soon can bagged concrete and mortar be delivered in Locharbriggs?

We confirm the delivery date when we price your order, before you commit. It depends on the product, the quantity and whether it is a stock line or made to order.

Do you sell mortar in bags?

Yes, pre-blended mortar mix for small jobs.

When should I use ready-mixed concrete instead?

Once you need more than about half a cubic metre, mixing from bags gets slow and costly; ballast and cement or ready-mixed concrete usually make more sense.
