Concrete & Aircrete Blocks for Sandown, delivered to site
Concrete blocks are large masonry units, normally 440 × 215 mm on face, that lay at about 10 blocks per square metre; they come as dense aggregate, lightweight aggregate or aircrete (aerated) blocks.
We deliver concrete blocks to sites, driveways and yards across Sandown, from a single pallet for a small job to full loads for bigger builds.

Things to check before you order
Dense or aircrete?
Dense blocks are strong and good for sound separation but heavy; a 100 mm dense block can weigh around 20 kg. Aircrete blocks are much lighter and insulate better, which helps with energy targets, but need the right fixings.
What strength do I need?
Most houses use 3.6 N/mm² or 7.3 N/mm² blocks. Your structural design, your building control officer or the block manufacturer's guidance sets the grade; tell us what is specified and we will match it.
In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.
Quantities: a worked example
A single-skin block wall in Sandown 5 m long and 2.4 m high is 12 m². At 10 blocks per square metre plus 5% you need 126 blocks, with about 0.17 tonnes of building sand and 2 bags of cement for the mortar at 1:4. Try the block calculator
Getting concrete blocks onto your Sandown site
Blocks are banded on pallets and usually crane-offloaded where the vehicle and access allow; tell us the weight limit of any drive or the ground where pallets will sit. Sandown needs a ferry crossing, so deliveries are quoted individually with the crossing included.
- In summer Sandown gets around 16h 29m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.
- If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
- Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.
Ordering concrete blocks for Sandown: FAQs
How soon can concrete blocks be delivered in Sandown?
We confirm the delivery date when we price your order, before you commit. It depends on the product, the quantity and whether it is a stock line or made to order.
How heavy is a concrete block?
It depends on the type and thickness. A 100 mm dense block is roughly 18 to 20 kg, a lightweight block noticeably less, and an aircrete block much less again.
Can I add other materials to my Sandown delivery?
Yes. Put everything on one list, from concrete blocks to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.
Are aircrete blocks strong enough for an extension?
Many aircrete blocks are designed for loadbearing walls, but grades differ. Check the strength your design calls for and the manufacturer's guidance on use below DPC.
