Choosing from our concrete blocks range

  • Block paving and edgingsOn request alongside your sub-base and sand.
  • Hollow and cellular blocksLighter dense blocks with voids, used for some garden and retaining walls.
  • Lightweight aggregate blocksLighter to handle with better thermal performance than dense blocks.
  • Dense concrete blocksHeavy, strong blocks for loadbearing walls, below ground and good sound separation.
  • Aircrete (aerated) blocksVery light, easy to cut and good insulators; check the strength grade for loadbearing work.

Getting the right concrete blocks

What strength do I need?

Most houses use 3.6 N/mm² or 7.3 N/mm² blocks. Your structural design, your building control officer or the block manufacturer's guidance sets the grade; tell us what is specified and we will match it.

Handling heavy blocks

Health and safety guidance discourages laying very heavy blocks by hand for long periods. Lighter blocks or planning the lift can make a big difference on site.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Estimating your concrete blocks

A single-skin block wall in Reigate 4 m long and 2.4 m high is 9.6 m². At 10 blocks per square metre plus 5% you need 101 blocks, with about 0.14 tonnes of building sand and 2 bags of cement for the mortar at 1:4. Try the block calculator

Before your Reigate delivery arrives

Blocks are banded on pallets and usually crane-offloaded where the vehicle and access allow; tell us the weight limit of any drive or the ground where pallets will sit. Reigate is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • With roughly 7h 52m of daylight in Reigate around the shortest day, morning deliveries leave more working light for the job.
  • If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.

Common questions from Reigate

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Reigate?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

How many blocks per square metre?

Standard 440 × 215 mm blocks with 10 mm joints lay at about 10 blocks per square metre of wall. Add around 5 percent for cuts.

How soon can concrete blocks be delivered in Reigate?

We confirm the delivery date when we price your order, before you commit. It depends on the product, the quantity and whether it is a stock line or made to order.

What is the difference between 3.6 and 7.3 N/mm² blocks?

The number is the compressive strength. 7.3 N/mm² blocks carry more load and are often specified below ground or for heavily loaded walls; 3.6 N/mm² is common for upper storeys and partitions. Follow your drawings.
