Concrete & Aircrete Blocks for sites in Highland

Concrete blocks are large masonry units, normally 440 × 215 mm on face, that lay at about 10 blocks per square metre; they come as dense aggregate, lightweight aggregate or aircrete (aerated) blocks.

For sites in Highland, our concrete blocks prices include delivery to your postcode, with the offload agreed when you order.

Delivering concrete blocks in Highland

Blocks are banded on pallets and usually crane-offloaded where the vehicle and access allow; tell us the weight limit of any drive or the ground where pallets will sit. Across Highland, deliveries are quoted individually because of the distance and access.

  • Weight limits on bridges or private roads near the site matter for larger lorries, so mention any you know of.
  • Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.
  • Clear a level area for pallets, ideally on boards, so materials stay out of standing water.

Picking the right product

Thickness

100 mm is the common inner-leaf thickness. Wider blocks (140, 190, 215 mm) are used for separating walls, single-skin garage walls and foundations.

Dense or aircrete?

Dense blocks are strong and good for sound separation but heavy; a 100 mm dense block can weigh around 20 kg. Aircrete blocks are much lighter and insulate better, which helps with energy targets, but need the right fixings.

In Scotland most building work needs a building warrant from the local authority, assessed against the Building Standards Technical Handbooks.

Questions about concrete blocks delivery in Highland

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Highland?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

Can I use blocks in the foundations?

Yes, using blocks made for below ground, often trench blocks or dense blocks of the specified strength. The council's building standards service will check foundation design.

How heavy is a concrete block?

It depends on the type and thickness. A 100 mm dense block is roughly 18 to 20 kg, a lightweight block noticeably less, and an aircrete block much less again.

Can I add other materials to my Highland delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from concrete blocks to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.
