A 5.4 m partition 2.4 m high at 400 mm centres takes 15 CLS studs, 10.8 m of head and sole plate and a row of noggins, then boarding on both sides. Work out the boards too

Before your Radcliffe delivery arrives

CLS travels in bundles alongside plasterboard and is easy to hand off at the kerb. Radcliffe is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• For a phased build we can split the order so materials arrive as each stage starts, which keeps the site clear.
• In summer Radcliffe gets around 17h 03m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.
• If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.

38 × 63 mm suits most partitions up to standard ceiling heights. 38 × 89 mm gives stiffer, taller walls and more room for insulation.

Loadbearing walls

If the wall carries load it needs graded timber to a design. Plain CLS is not automatically structural.

CLS is kiln dried rather than treated as standard, because it is meant for dry internal use. Treated CLS is available if you need it.
