Loadbearing walls

If the wall carries load it needs graded timber to a design. Plain CLS is not automatically structural.

Stud spacing

Studs are usually set at 400 mm or 600 mm centres to suit 1200 mm wide plasterboard.

How delivery works in Brecon

CLS travels in bundles alongside plasterboard and is easy to hand off at the kerb. Brecon is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• In summer Brecon gets around 16h 43m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.
• If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.
• Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.

Quantities: a worked example

A 2.4 m partition 2.4 m high at 400 mm centres takes 7 CLS studs, 4.8 m of head and sole plate and a row of noggins, then boarding on both sides. Work out the boards too

Is CLS timber treated?

CLS is kiln dried rather than treated as standard, because it is meant for dry internal use. Treated CLS is available if you need it.

What does CLS stand for?

Canadian Lumber Standard. It refers to the way the timber is dried, planed and finished with rounded edges.

Can I add other materials to my Brecon delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from CLS timber to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Brecon?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.
