Delivering carcassing timber in Portsmouth

Timber is delivered in packs or bundles on a flatbed; long lengths need clear access along the drop point. Portsmouth is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • Weight limits on bridges or private roads near the site matter for larger lorries, so mention any you know of.
  • Give us the full postcode for the drop point; deliveries around PO5 are priced to the exact address.
  • Keep cement, plaster and boards dry: have a tarpaulin or a garage space ready before they arrive.

Choosing carcassing timber

C16 or C24?

C24 is stronger and stiffer, so it can span further or use a smaller section. Span tables and your structural drawings decide which grade and size you need.

Cut ends

Treat any cut ends with a suitable end-grain preservative, especially on external work.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Treated Carcassing Timber questions

How soon can carcassing timber be delivered in Portsmouth?

We confirm the delivery date when we price your order, before you commit. It depends on the product, the quantity and whether it is a stock line or made to order.

What lengths are available?

Common lengths run from 2.4 m to 4.8 m in 300 mm steps, with longer lengths to order.

Can I add other materials to my Portsmouth delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from carcassing timber to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.

Why is my treated timber green or brown?

The colour comes from the preservative. It fades over time and does not tell you how well the timber is protected; the use class does.
