Delivering carcassing timber in King's Lynn
Timber is delivered in packs or bundles on a flatbed; long lengths need clear access along the drop point. King's Lynn is inside our standard mainland delivery area.
- On busy streets in King's Lynn, a parking suspension or a quiet time slot can make offloading safer, so tell us about local restrictions you know of.
- Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.
- If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.
Estimating your carcassing timber
A floor 6 m wide with joists spanning 3.6 m at 400 mm centres needs 16 joists, plus trimmers and noggins. The section and grade, such as 47 × 200 mm C24, come from span tables or your engineer; send us the timber schedule and we will price it.
Things to check before you order
Which treatment?
Treatment is specified by use class. Timber inside a building is usually use class 1 or 2; external timber out of ground contact is use class 3; timber in ground contact needs use class 4.
C16 or C24?
C24 is stronger and stiffer, so it can span further or use a smaller section. Span tables and your structural drawings decide which grade and size you need.
In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.
Treated Carcassing Timber in King's Lynn: questions
Is there a minimum order for delivery to King's Lynn?
There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.
Can I add other materials to my King's Lynn delivery?
Yes. Put everything on one list, from carcassing timber to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.
Why is my treated timber green or brown?
The colour comes from the preservative. It fades over time and does not tell you how well the timber is protected; the use class does.
What sizes of joist do I need?
That depends on the span, spacing, loading and grade. Use span tables or your engineer's design; building control will check.
