Before your Lincolnshire delivery arrives
Bulk bags are usually crane-lifted onto a drive or kerb where the vehicle and access allow; small bags travel with a mixed load. Our standard mainland delivery area covers Lincolnshire.
- Weight limits on bridges or private roads near the site matter for larger lorries, so mention any you know of.
- If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.
- Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.
Getting the right sand
Colour of mortar
Building sand colour changes the mortar colour. For matching existing joints, a sample is worth it.
Soft or sharp?
Use soft building sand for mortar because it gives a smooth, sticky mix. Use sharp sand where strength and drainage matter: screeds, concrete and paving beds.
Building & Sharp Sand questions
How much sand do I need for a screed?
Multiply the floor area by the screed depth to get cubic metres, then allow about 1.6 tonnes of sharp sand per cubic metre plus cement at your mix. Our sand calculator does the sums.
Do you deliver sand to trades and homeowners in Lincolnshire?
Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.
What is the difference between building sand and sharp sand?
Building (soft) sand is fine and makes smooth mortar for laying bricks. Sharp sand is coarser, drains better and is used in concrete, screeds and paving beds.
Can I add other materials to my Lincolnshire delivery?
Yes. Put everything on one list, from sand to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.
