Estimating your bricks

Take a garden wall in Wiltshire 5 m long and 1.2 m high: 6 m². At 60 bricks per square metre plus 5% for cuts that is 378 bricks, roughly 1 pack of 500 depending on the maker, laid in about 0.35 tonnes of building sand and 4 bags of cement at a 1:4 mix. Try the brick calculator

How delivery works in Wiltshire

Bricks come in strapped packs, usually on a pallet, and are lifted off by a lorry-mounted crane where the drop point allows. Our standard mainland delivery area covers Wiltshire.

  • For a phased build we can split the order so materials arrive as each stage starts, which keeps the site clear.
  • Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.
  • Weight limits on bridges or private roads near the site matter for larger lorries, so mention any you know of.

Before you order bricks

Is the wall exposed?

For walls that will get very wet and freeze, such as parapets, copings, below DPC or free-standing garden walls, use a clay brick declared F2 (freeze-thaw resistant) and S2 (low soluble salts).

Colour consistency

Order everything for one job at the same time so the bricks come from the same production run, then mix from three or four packs as you lay to blend any variation.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Bricks questions

How are bricks delivered?

In strapped packs on a flatbed lorry, normally unloaded by the lorry's crane. Tell us where the packs can go and whether there are overhead cables, low branches or soft ground.

How soon can bricks be delivered in Wiltshire?

We confirm the delivery date when we price your order, before you commit. It depends on the product, the quantity and whether it is a stock line or made to order.

Do you deliver bricks to trades and homeowners in Wiltshire?

Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.

Can you match my existing bricks?

Often, yes. Send the brick name if you have it, or a daylight photo of a clean face with a tape measure for scale. We will look for the nearest match in current ranges and can usually arrange a sample before you commit to a full order.
