Before your Uxbridge delivery arrives

Bricks come in strapped packs, usually on a pallet, and are lifted off by a lorry-mounted crane where the drop point allows. Uxbridge is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
  • For a phased build we can split the order so materials arrive as each stage starts, which keeps the site clear.
  • Give us the full postcode for the drop point; deliveries around UB8 are priced to the exact address.

Picking the right product

Is the wall exposed?

For walls that will get very wet and freeze, such as parapets, copings, below DPC or free-standing garden walls, use a clay brick declared F2 (freeze-thaw resistant) and S2 (low soluble salts).

Engineering Class A or B?

Class A is the denser of the two and is usually chosen where strength or very low water absorption matters; Class B is the common choice below DPC and for manholes; a brick DPC course in a building needs Class A (DPC1). Your designer or building control may specify one.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Ordering bricks for Uxbridge: FAQs

Which bricks go below the damp-proof course?

Below DPC you need bricks that cope with constant damp and frost: engineering bricks, or clay facings declared F2 and S2. Concrete bricks are another option for below-ground work.

Do you deliver bricks to trades and homeowners in Uxbridge?

Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.

How many bricks are in a square metre?

With standard 215 × 65 mm bricks and 10 mm mortar joints you need about 60 bricks per square metre for a single-skin (half-brick) wall and about 120 for a one-brick-thick wall. Add around 5 percent for cuts and breakages.

Can I add other materials to my Uxbridge delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from bricks to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.
