Delivering bricks in Swansea
Bricks come in strapped packs, usually on a pallet, and are lifted off by a lorry-mounted crane where the drop point allows. Swansea is inside our standard mainland delivery area.
- On busy streets in Swansea, a parking suspension or a quiet time slot can make offloading safer, so tell us about local restrictions you know of.
- Weight limits on bridges or private roads near the site matter for larger lorries, so mention any you know of.
- If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.
How much will you need?
Take a garden wall in Swansea 7 m long and 2.1 m high: 14.7 m². At 60 bricks per square metre plus 5% for cuts that is 927 bricks, roughly 2 packs of 500 depending on the maker, laid in about 0.87 tonnes of building sand and 8 bags of cement at a 1:4 mix. Try the brick calculator

Colour consistency
Order everything for one job at the same time so the bricks come from the same production run, then mix from three or four packs as you lay to blend any variation.
Is the wall exposed?
For walls that will get very wet and freeze, such as parapets, copings, below DPC or free-standing garden walls, use a clay brick declared F2 (freeze-thaw resistant) and S2 (low soluble salts).
Wales has its own Approved Documents, including its own Part L for energy efficiency, and building control is handled by the local authority or a registered approver.
Bricks questions
Can you deliver bricks to a site with restricted access in Swansea?
Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.
Do you deliver bricks to trades and homeowners in Swansea?
Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.
How many bricks come in a pack?
It depends on the manufacturer and the brick. Packs of 400, 475 and 500 are common. We confirm the pack size with your price so you can order whole packs.
How much mortar do 1,000 bricks need?
Roughly half a cubic metre of mixed mortar, which is about 1 tonne of building sand and 8 to 9 bags of cement at a 1:4 mix. Our brick calculator works it out for your wall.
