Delivery to Rhondda: what helps

Bricks come in strapped packs, usually on a pallet, and are lifted off by a lorry-mounted crane where the drop point allows. Rhondda is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.
  • For a phased build we can split the order so materials arrive as each stage starts, which keeps the site clear.
  • In summer Rhondda gets around 16h 40m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.

Things to check before you order

Engineering Class A or B?

Class A is the denser of the two and is usually chosen where strength or very low water absorption matters; Class B is the common choice below DPC and for manholes; a brick DPC course in a building needs Class A (DPC1). Your designer or building control may specify one.

Is the wall exposed?

For walls that will get very wet and freeze, such as parapets, copings, below DPC or free-standing garden walls, use a clay brick declared F2 (freeze-thaw resistant) and S2 (low soluble salts).

Wales has its own Approved Documents, including its own Part L for energy efficiency, and building control is handled by the local authority or a registered approver.
