Delivery to Banbridge: what helps

Bricks come in strapped packs, usually on a pallet, and are lifted off by a lorry-mounted crane where the drop point allows. Deliveries to Northern Ireland include a sea crossing, so we quote each order individually.

  • Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.
  • If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
  • With roughly 7h 18m of daylight in Banbridge around the shortest day, morning deliveries leave more working light for the job.

Estimating your bricks

Take a garden wall in Banbridge 5 m long and 1.2 m high: 6 m². At 60 bricks per square metre plus 5% for cuts that is 378 bricks, roughly 1 pack of 500 depending on the maker, laid in about 0.35 tonnes of building sand and 4 bags of cement at a 1:4 mix. Try the brick calculator

Getting the right bricks

Is the wall exposed?

For walls that will get very wet and freeze, such as parapets, copings, below DPC or free-standing garden walls, use a clay brick declared F2 (freeze-thaw resistant) and S2 (low soluble salts).

Engineering Class A or B?

Class A is the denser of the two and is usually chosen where strength or very low water absorption matters; Class B is the common choice below DPC and for manholes; a brick DPC course in a building needs Class A (DPC1). Your designer or building control may specify one.

In Northern Ireland building work follows the Building Regulations (Northern Ireland), with guidance in the Technical Booklets, and applications go to the council's building control team.

Bricks questions

How many bricks come in a pack?

It depends on the manufacturer and the brick. Packs of 400, 475 and 500 are common. We confirm the pack size with your price so you can order whole packs.

How many bricks are in a square metre?

With standard 215 × 65 mm bricks and 10 mm mortar joints you need about 60 bricks per square metre for a single-skin (half-brick) wall and about 120 for a one-brick-thick wall. Add around 5 percent for cuts and breakages.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Banbridge?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

How soon can bricks be delivered in Banbridge?

We confirm the delivery date when we price your order, before you commit. It depends on the product, the quantity and whether it is a stock line or made to order.
