Planning the drop in Arnold
Bricks come in strapped packs, usually on a pallet, and are lifted off by a lorry-mounted crane where the drop point allows. Arnold is inside our standard mainland delivery area.
- For a phased build we can split the order so materials arrive as each stage starts, which keeps the site clear.
- Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.
- Deliveries are to the kerb, drive or within crane reach; ask if materials need to go further.
Estimating your bricks
Take a garden wall in Arnold 5 m long and 1.5 m high: 7.5 m². At 60 bricks per square metre plus 5% for cuts that is 473 bricks, roughly 1 pack of 500 depending on the maker, laid in about 0.44 tonnes of building sand and 4 bags of cement at a 1:4 mix. Try the brick calculator
Choosing bricks
Engineering Class A or B?
Class A is the denser of the two and is usually chosen where strength or very low water absorption matters; Class B is the common choice below DPC and for manholes; a brick DPC course in a building needs Class A (DPC1). Your designer or building control may specify one.
Colour consistency
Order everything for one job at the same time so the bricks come from the same production run, then mix from three or four packs as you lay to blend any variation.
In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.
Your questions answered
Do you sell bricks in small quantities?
We price whole packs as standard because that is how bricks leave the works. For small repairs ask anyway: we will tell you honestly whether part packs are possible for the brick you need.
How many bricks come in a pack?
It depends on the manufacturer and the brick. Packs of 400, 475 and 500 are common. We confirm the pack size with your price so you can order whole packs.
Do you deliver bricks to trades and homeowners in Arnold?
Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.
Can I add other materials to my Arnold delivery?
Yes. Put everything on one list, from bricks to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.
