Before you order adhesives and sealants

Which sealant where?

Use sanitary silicone in wet areas, low-modulus sealant around frames that move, and paintable caulk on trims to be decorated.

Fire-stopping

Ordinary foam is not a fire stop. Where a fire seal is required use a tested fire-rated product and install it as tested.

How delivery works in Ely

Boxed with the rest of your order. Ely is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Clear a level area for pallets, ideally on boards, so materials stay out of standing water.
• Deliveries are to the kerb, drive or within crane reach; ask if materials need to go further.
• If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.

Sizing your order

Sealing round 8 windows of about 1.2 × 1.2 m is roughly 38.4 m of joint. A 310 ml cartridge runs about 3 m of a 10 × 10 mm bead, so allow 13 cartridges of frame sealant.

Common questions from Ely

Can I add other materials to my Ely delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from adhesives and sealants to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.

What sealant for windows?

A low-modulus frame sealant that stays flexible as the frame moves.

Can I paint over silicone?

Generally no. Use a paintable decorators' caulk if the joint will be painted.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Ely?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.
