Roofing materials are the tiles or slates, battens, underlay membranes and fixings that make up a pitched roof covering, plus the flat-roof materials for smaller roofs.

We deliver roofing materials to sites, driveways and yards across Poole, from a single pallet for a small job to full loads for bigger builds.

Things to check before you order

Check the minimum pitch

Every tile and slate has a minimum rafter pitch set by the manufacturer. A shallow extension roof may rule some tiles out.

Fixing requirements

BS 5534 sets out how tiles must be fixed against wind uplift, which in most cases means every tile is mechanically fixed. Ask for the fixing specification with your tiles.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Delivery to Poole: what helps

Tiles and slates arrive palletised and are usually crane-offloaded where access allows; battens and membrane rolls travel with them. Poole is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.
  • If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.
  • In summer Poole gets around 16h 30m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.

A quick quantity check

A 48 m² roof slope needs roughly 480 large-format interlocking tiles, or about 2,880 small plain tiles, before ridge, hip and verge pieces. The exact count comes from the tile's gauge, so send us the roof measurements and pitch and we will work it out with the battens and membrane.

Roofing Materials questions

Do I need a breathable membrane?

Most new pitched roofs use a breathable (vapour-permeable) underlay, which helps control condensation in the roof space. Some designs use a non-breathable underlay with ventilation instead.

Can you deliver roofing materials to a site with restricted access in Poole?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.

Do you supply flat roof materials?

Yes, felt, EPDM rubber and GRP fibreglass systems for smaller roofs. Tell us the roof size and what is underneath.

Do you deliver roofing materials to trades and homeowners in Poole?

Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.
