Sizing your order
A 30 m² roof slope needs roughly 300 large-format interlocking tiles, or about 1,800 small plain tiles, before ridge, hip and verge pieces. The exact count comes from the tile's gauge, so send us the roof measurements and pitch and we will work it out with the battens and membrane.
Getting roofing materials onto your Norfolk site
Tiles and slates arrive palletised and are usually crane-offloaded where access allows; battens and membrane rolls travel with them. Our standard mainland delivery area covers Norfolk.
- Give us the full postcode for the drop point; deliveries around NR are priced to the exact address.
- If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.
- For a phased build we can split the order so materials arrive as each stage starts, which keeps the site clear.
Roofing Materials: choosing well
Check the minimum pitch
Every tile and slate has a minimum rafter pitch set by the manufacturer. A shallow extension roof may rule some tiles out.
Fixing requirements
BS 5534 sets out how tiles must be fixed against wind uplift, which in most cases means every tile is mechanically fixed. Ask for the fixing specification with your tiles.
In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.
Your questions answered
Can you deliver roofing materials to a site with restricted access in Norfolk?
Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.
Can you match old clay tiles?
We can look for close current matches. Reclaimed tiles are another route for very old roofs; ask and we will tell you what we can source.
How soon can roofing materials be delivered in Norfolk?
We confirm the delivery date when we price your order, before you commit. It depends on the product, the quantity and whether it is a stock line or made to order.
Do I need a breathable membrane?
Most new pitched roofs use a breathable (vapour-permeable) underlay, which helps control condensation in the roof space. Some designs use a non-breathable underlay with ventilation instead.
