Getting roofing materials onto your Longton site

Tiles and slates arrive palletised and are usually crane-offloaded where access allows; battens and membrane rolls travel with them. Longton is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
• With roughly 7h 34m of daylight in Longton around the shortest day, morning deliveries leave more working light for the job.
• Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.

How much will you need?

A 55 m² roof slope needs roughly 550 large-format interlocking tiles, or about 3,300 small plain tiles, before ridge, hip and verge pieces. The exact count comes from the tile's gauge, so send us the roof measurements and pitch and we will work it out with the battens and membrane.

Things to check before you order

Matching an existing roof

The profile, size and colour all matter. A photo of the tile and a measurement of its exposed face help us find the closest current product.

Check the minimum pitch

Every tile and slate has a minimum rafter pitch set by the manufacturer. A shallow extension roof may rule some tiles out.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Roofing Materials in Longton: questions

Do you supply flat roof materials?

Yes, felt, EPDM rubber and GRP fibreglass systems for smaller roofs. Tell us the roof size and what is underneath.

Can I add other materials to my Longton delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from roofing materials to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.

Can you match old clay tiles?

We can look for close current matches. Reclaimed tiles are another route for very old roofs; ask and we will tell you what we can source.

Can you deliver roofing materials to a site with restricted access in Longton?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.
