Roofing Materials for Alness, delivered to site
Roofing materials are the tiles or slates, battens, underlay membranes and fixings that make up a pitched roof covering, plus the flat-roof materials for smaller roofs.
Trades and homeowners in Alness can order roofing materials for delivery by sending a list, a drawing or just the sizes of the job.

Before your Alness delivery arrives
Tiles and slates arrive palletised and are usually crane-offloaded where access allows; battens and membrane rolls travel with them. Alness is in an area where deliveries are priced individually because of the distance and access, so we quote each order separately.
- Clear a level area for pallets, ideally on boards, so materials stay out of standing water.
- If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
- If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.
Things to check before you order
Matching an existing roof
The profile, size and colour all matter. A photo of the tile and a measurement of its exposed face help us find the closest current product.
Check the minimum pitch
Every tile and slate has a minimum rafter pitch set by the manufacturer. A shallow extension roof may rule some tiles out.
In Scotland most building work needs a building warrant from the local authority, assessed against the Building Standards Technical Handbooks.
Sizing your order
A 26 m² roof slope needs roughly 260 large-format interlocking tiles, or about 1,560 small plain tiles, before ridge, hip and verge pieces. The exact count comes from the tile's gauge, so send us the roof measurements and pitch and we will work it out with the battens and membrane.
Common questions from Alness
What battens should I use?
Roofing battens graded for roofing work, of the size the tile maker and BS 5534 call for, normally treated.
Do you deliver roofing materials to trades and homeowners in Alness?
Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.
Can I add other materials to my Alness delivery?
Yes. Put everything on one list, from roofing materials to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.
What is dry-fix ridge?
A mechanical system that fixes ridge and hip tiles without mortar, which avoids mortar cracking and is now common on new roofs.
