Choosing plywood

Thickness for floors

18 mm or more is common for floors on joists at 400 mm centres; follow your design.

Interior or exterior?

BS EN 636 classes plywood as class 1 (dry), class 2 (humid) or class 3 (exterior). Use class 3 for anything exposed to the weather.

Estimating your plywood

Decking 12 m² with 2440 × 1220 mm sheets takes 5 sheets including 10% for cutting.

Before your Thatcham delivery arrives

Sheets travel flat on the lorry bed and are hand-offloaded or crane-lifted in packs. Thatcham is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.
• In summer Thatcham gets around 16h 37m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.
• Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.
