Getting the right planed timber

Softwood or MDF trim?

MDF skirting and architrave is very straight and paints well; softwood takes knocks better and can be stained.

Matching old profiles

Bring an offcut or a clear profile photo with measurements and we will look for the closest current profile.

Before your Runcorn delivery arrives

Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Runcorn is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
• Weight limits on bridges or private roads near the site matter for larger lorries, so mention any you know of.
• Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.

A quick quantity check

A 3.4 × 4 m room with one door has about 14 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 15.4 m, or 4 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.

Planed Timber & Mouldings questions

Can you deliver planed timber to a site with restricted access in Runcorn?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.

How should I store planed timber?

Flat, off the ground and inside if possible, so it does not take on moisture and move before fitting.

What does PAR mean?

Planed all round: the timber has been machined smooth on all four faces.

How soon can planed timber be delivered in Runcorn?

We confirm the delivery date when we price your order, before you commit. It depends on the product, the quantity and whether it is a stock line or made to order.
