Estimating your planed timber
A 3 × 4.6 m room with one door has about 14.4 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 15.8 m, or 4 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.
Before your Nairn delivery arrives
Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Nairn is in an area where deliveries are priced individually because of the distance and access, so we quote each order separately.
- Deliveries are to the kerb, drive or within crane reach; ask if materials need to go further.
- Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.
- On busy streets in Nairn, a parking suspension or a quiet time slot can make offloading safer, so tell us about local restrictions you know of.
Choosing planed timber
Matching old profiles
Bring an offcut or a clear profile photo with measurements and we will look for the closest current profile.
Nominal versus finished size
Planing takes material off, so a timber sold as 'nominal' 2 × 4 finishes smaller. Always check finished sizes when you need an exact fit.
Planed Timber & Mouldings in Nairn: questions
Why is my 2 × 4 smaller than 2 × 4 inches?
Timber is often named by its sawn size before planing. Once planed, it finishes smaller, so a nominal 2 × 4 is roughly 44 × 94 mm or less.
Can I add other materials to my Nairn delivery?
