Choosing planed timber

Softwood or MDF trim?

MDF skirting and architrave is very straight and paints well; softwood takes knocks better and can be stained.

Matching old profiles

Bring an offcut or a clear profile photo with measurements and we will look for the closest current profile.

Delivery to Hereford: what helps

Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Hereford is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.
• In summer Hereford gets around 16h 45m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.
• Deliveries are to the kerb, drive or within crane reach; ask if materials need to go further.

A quick quantity check

A 3.8 × 4.6 m room with one door has about 16 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 17.6 m, or 5 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.

Your questions answered

Can I add other materials to my Hereford delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from planed timber to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.

Can you deliver planed timber to a site with restricted access in Hereford?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.

What does PAR mean?

Planed all round: the timber has been machined smooth on all four faces.

Can you match an old skirting profile?

We can look for the closest current profile. Exact matches for old or bespoke profiles may need machining to order.
