Getting planed timber onto your Chesterfield site

Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Chesterfield is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.
• Give us the full postcode for the drop point; deliveries around S49 are priced to the exact address.
• If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.

How much will you need?

A 3 × 4.6 m room with one door has about 14.4 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 15.8 m, or 4 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.

Planed Timber & Mouldings: choosing well

Nominal versus finished size

Planing takes material off, so a timber sold as 'nominal' 2 × 4 finishes smaller. Always check finished sizes when you need an exact fit.

Matching old profiles

Bring an offcut or a clear profile photo with measurements and we will look for the closest current profile.

Your questions answered

Do you sell MDF skirting?

Yes, primed MDF skirting and architrave in common profiles, alongside softwood.

How soon can planed timber be delivered in Chesterfield?

We confirm the delivery date when we price your order, before you commit. It depends on the product, the quantity and whether it is a stock line or made to order.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Chesterfield?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

What does PAR mean?

Planed all round: the timber has been machined smooth on all four faces.
